The 9-5 by the way is the safest car ever tested. > /maybe they are in members only area on NCAP??/. > On http://www.whatcar.co.uk/themag/indexmag.htm are > available tests of S40, 3-years old concept of Volvo mid-sized > car which scored 4 (!) stars as the first car ever tested. > Saab 9-5 received later on also 4 stars. True but I think the reason it didn't rank as high was to do with the car being to rigid and not deforming in the best way. I will check and get back to you. > There is also a question > of ACTIVE safety, not tested by NCAP. If it was my choice every car would have no air bags, 5 point harnesses and no ABS. Drivers would then have to pass a rigorous test to see if they can handle the car in emergency situations. > > > > > more powerful engine, > > Only on the higher models which to my mind compare badly against Audi A6 > > etc. > > Audi A6 2.8 is as expensive as S80 T6, while being less spacious, > less individualistic, etc., etc. Moreover, I do not like image of this car. > Volvo's must be very cheap where you live, because here in the UK a T6 costs the same as the top of the range A6 quattro. I looked it up last night and the T6 is a wooping 6 grand more expensive here (then S80 2.9 and V6 9-5). I can't imagine that it is somehow a completely different price structure where you are. > and > lost only about 4 points from 1000 total possible to the first car. > Well, if they would compare T6, Volvo would win. Of course it would since you are not comparing like for like. For the same money (UK) you could buy a whole gammit of great cars like A6 quattro, S4, M3, etc need I say more. > Anyway, these > test are ALWAYS subjective and I would not base my > purchasing decision on any of them. > True but the difference is that these guys drive different cars all the time. This makes you super critical (just ask any mechanic). The advantage they have is that they can drive all the cars back to back on the same day and on the same roads. The disadvantge is that they might not have enough time with a car to appreciate it fully. Magazines do have very different opinions. CAR magazine here in the UK seem to be very pro SAAB at the moment and have just given the 9-5 wagon 4 stars. Auto Express on the over hand are BMW mad and seem to totaly disregard SAAB. They recently compared new 318 to Omega v6, a stupid comparison. They still decided it would be better to waste 21 grand on the BMW. > Enjoy your (Saab) driving. > > Radek > To right I enjoy it! All the best in your S80. Neil. -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
