I put Boston Accoustics 6.5" separates in the rear panels of both my '90 900T and my '88 900T without a problem. My recommendation, though, is to get Infinity Uniplane 6.5" speakers. They're coaxial, and only 1" deep and fit *easily* in the rear panels, and sound great. The shelf cover is a *bad* idea as it vibrates too much, and hanging heavy 6x9s off of it will cause it to sag and deform. Additionally, as you pointed out, you would have to watch water and debris falling from the open hatch. http://www.autotoys.com is a good source for the Infinitys. As soon as the $$$ come in, I'll be picking some up for my '90 SPG... :) -Justin
