It is probably a better safety feature than only head restraints, because it will protect the whole backbone. > > Saab was the first to offer a Turbo engine in serial models. > Saab was the first to offer standard ABS. > Volvo offered ABS from 1984. Driver airbags from 1987. SIPS airbags from 1994. And IC (inflatable curtain) from 1998, which Saab doesn't has at all. Side airbags from 1994. ABS was not invented by any car-maker anyway, most of inventions comming from Bosch and others. > Please don't say it's the commun notion of all people because it's not. > > Explain otherwise why e.g. Saab is winning all major safety contests year > after year. > Volvo S40 was tested as the best car in its class (it won against 9-3). It was the only car to receive 4 stars. S70 surely is less safe than 9-5, but this car is 8-9 years old and it is amazing how good it still is. It would not be foolish to assume that new Volvo 60-series will be as safe as 40-series, making it at least as safe as current Saab 9-5. I do not know of any publicly made S80 crash-tests, but I believe it could be the safest car on a planet, assuming already great S40/S70 concept was re-worked and improved. Radek
