I found ABS to be an annoyance when stopping in a snow behind a (usually much cheaper) vehicle without ABS. You often have to find a niche where you can get your car, because it will NOT stop faster then car in front of you. However, I would never want to get rid of it, because even when braking distance is larger, the car goes straight, has better feel of control. On wet surfaces and fast speeds (e.g. highway driving), the results of having ABS are marvelous -- you are almost sure not to loose traction when hard-braking, while non-ABS cars end up in a collision. I would keep my ABS (+TRACS, DSTC, etc.) always on. You must be careful in winter, but generally it is a good safety feature. Radek
