Subject: Re: How to stop in snow

Bill - I would be leary of "pulling the plug" on the ABS because if you ever needed it and it wasn't there you may regret the outcome. A vengeful insurance company may also make your life miserable. I've never tampered with mine - usually just planned my stopping earlier than usual on snow, or backed off and reapplied the brakes when the ABS started pulsing. Audi used to (still?) put a bypass switch in for the ABS - a feature I think should be mandatory. Rather than pull the plug, why not install an on/off switch - I know this contradicts my statements above, but you could deactivate the ABS when in deep snow or gravel or mud and make active when needed. Good luck! Tod.
