I've had three mechanics look at the car besides myself. I do much of my own work short of the really complicated tasks like pulling heads ,etc. I think the car had one or two previous owners. Wasn't able to get any service records though. The fuel pump replacement was a real challenge with all of the banjo washers and the reservoir pump. I think the engine was overheated with the last water pump started a rendition of Old Faithful while driving on the freeway. I pulled over as soon as possible, but the temp gauge was pegged. That may account for the head gasket and shaft bearing damage. If the Saabs are that sensitive, then I'm really suprised. Right now, I'm getting quotes for putting a rebuilt engine into it. I'm going to reuse as many parts from the current engine as possible. Hopefully this will provide for a few more miles before I get too frustrated, and go postal . . . Thanks for your reply and advice. J. R. muzbuz wrote in message <367e5b85.0nopsam.isdn.net>... >I have this exact model.
