Patrick This sounds identical to what I just experienced. After spending $300 letting one shadetree mechanic after another tinker with it and still not fixing the problem, I took it to the dealer. The ignition cable was corroded and frayed. They replaced that and I've had no trouble since. The part is fairly cheap ($20), but the labor (about three hours) is a little steep. Good luck.
