Subject: Power seatbelt troubles

Hello! I have a 1988 900T 3-door. Recently, the weather here got cold. Not long after that, about 2 days ago, the driver's side seat belt got stuck about 5 inches from the fully open position. This is problem enough, since I don't like driving long distances without a lap belt, but in addition, it seems to have caused the battery to drain as well. I talked to the previous owner, and he said he'd had that problem before a couple of times, too; if the seatbelt froze in either of the 'locked' positions, things were relatively okay, but if it froze somewhere in the middle, it would drain the battery as the car tried to bring it back down into the fully-open position. The problem seems to go away on its own after any time from a couple hours, to a week. My question for the group is, has anyone else had this problem? And if so, do you know of any way to hasten its return to normal? Thanks! -Brendan Dunn bdunnnopsam.edu
