That doesn't make much sense. First of all, there are testing procedures for the AMM. They aren't perfect, but they'll give you a pretty good idea of whether or not the thing is working properly. Second of all, the AMM has nothing to do with creating carbon. The AMM's only job is to measure the mass of incoming air so the fuel injection system can properly meter fuel. The O2 sensor "sniffs" the exhaust and helps the fuel injection system fine tune itself. Neither has anything to do with the creation of carbon - quite the opposite. They are both designed to reduce carbon, which is a result of unburned fuel... the fuel injection system (AMM and O2 sensor) is a more or less precision instrument and its sole purpose it to make sure you're not running rich or lean. -JUstin
