My wife sat in the passenger seat of our 900 and a little curle of smoke came out of the seat next to her leg. The heating element burned out. You can check the element with an ohm meter. If you get a reading, the element is good. If the needle doesn't move, the circuit is bad. I think the latter will be your case.
