At 27K miles, it should still have the balance of a warranty in effect, so
I'd check into that first.

Things to look for in a bad auto tranny:  harsh shifting, early (or late,
but early seems more common) shifting, or a pause when selecting Drive or
Reverse (or any gear, for that matter).
