Hi guys... I just purchased an '82 900 w/155K miles on it last week. It is my first Saab and I am very impresed with its condition after all these miles and years. The previous owner has taken great care of it. The engine and transmission are all original and it runs great and is very fun to drive, even though it is a bit short on power ( it is not a turbo). anyway, to the questions: the previous owner says he had a new clutch put on it about 5K miles ago. However, the clutch engages at the very top of the pedal travel. The clutch is hydraulic and I could not find any adjustment on the push rod under the dash and could not see near the slave cylinder due to a cover. Is this adjustable or is something wrong with the clutch? Also, if the car idles for a while once warm or i drivew in a traffic jam the temp guage climbs unusually high, almost to the red mark. On the highway there is no problem--it stays right in the middle. I suspect a cooling fan problem or maybe the radiator is slightly clogged and it needs a good flush. One more--at idle if i let the clutch out there is a little bit of bearing noise in the trans--it goes away when i push the pedal in. hoiw long can the trans last with a little bearing noise like this? If anyone has any experience with these problems I would greatly appreciate some advice. thanks Ashok Babu '82 900--155K and running strong '91 TSi AWD--91K and broken!
