I agree with you on the use of mineral versus synthetic oil. I had an 83 900T 5spd I tried Castrol Syntec in back in 1993. I did not care for that oil at all. Yes, I also had a minor leak with the synthetic. I went back to using Castrol GTX 10W30 or 10W40. That is what I continued to use in my 87 900S and my current 87 9000S, both 5 spds. The one exception is I have been using Militec-1 since January of 94. I don't sell it. I just use it and it works. I would rather change my oil and filter every 3500 to 5000 miles using mineral oil, than use a synthetic and try to push my changes to 10,000 miles plus. Synthetic oil is expensive. Will I ever use it. Maybe in my 5 spd, but not in the engine. Why? The trans is good for 30,000 miles between changes. Ken Washington 87 9000S 87 900S 83 900T
