Someone wrote: What is the "general notion" in Sweden about Saab vs. Volvo? Historically both Saab and Volvo was cars for the broad majority of families in Sweden. We didn't see Volvo and Saab as luxury cars or upper segments of brands. Together they had about 40% of the market! Of the two, Saab was more sporty while Volvo was the safe but boring. Mostly owned by middle age family men. We used to call it the container from Gothenburg. I my self have had something like 18 Saab's over the years and I still love them because of their handling and control especially under difficult conditions like snow etc. I have also had a couple of Volvos. The most recent ones like S80 have impressed me. The only Saab I never really got along with was an early 900 Turbo from 1994. Not because of quality problems but more because it poor handling and the lack of comfort. The 9-3 has improved, but not enough. My next will be a 9-5 combi (station wagon). Swedish Saab owner from Trollhättan not really impartial.
