My first Saab was a 1988 9000t. It took less than the break-in period for me to fall hopelessly in love with that car. It started every time (even on the coldest Michigan mornings) and trekked easily over snow-covered roads. My favorite Saab story: My brother asked me to go with him to look at a used sofa and I agreed. He liked the sofa and bought it on the spot. The gentleman asked how we planned to get it home. "Got a truck?" he asked. I told him no, that we would take it in my car. He looked at my Saab, then at me, and he laughed -- as if I was joking. Well, we removed the sofa's legs, carried it out to my Saab, and slid it in. No problem! I only wish I could share the look on that man's face as we drove off. In 1993, I was hit broadside, driver's side, by a speeding tank (an older Pontiac). The paramedics told me that, when they arrived, they agreed it didn't look good -- until one of them noticed it was a Saab. I had a few cuts and bruises, but I pretty much walked away. As I've heard other Saab owners testify, "My Saab gave its life to save mine." I replaced that car with a 1994 9000 CSE and drove it happily until last year, when my daughter took ownership. On May 1, I ordered a 9-5 SE V-6. It (finally) arrived in late December. It was well worth the wait -- she IS smooth! Why do I love my Saab? It's safe, reliable, roomy, and downright good-looking. Oh...and, with that turbo boost, she's no slouch on the highway. Congratulations on your purchase -- I hope that you'll be as happy as I've been.
