I have an 87 9000S 5 spd. From what I have read and understand the
earlier 9000s were not designed to take the 16 inch wheels. The later
9000s, I believe 92 or 93 and on were designed for and a few models came
with 16 inch wheels, Aero and CSE models I believe.
