David, How many times have you spilled something down in the ignition? I've done it too many times to count. But what I've found is washing it out with alcohol (for it evaporates.) Take a syringe, or something with a long narrow tube, and just flush out the core. Taking time in between to wiggle & turn the key every now and then. But try everything before taking the shift assembly out. I just did one today, and those bloody triangle bolts are a pain. The air hammer wouldn't even get 'em. Good luck!
