In my case, there were also worn rubber shims or bumpers that needed to be replaced and the whole linkage needed adjusting in order to get all the gears to access well. If the spinning shifter itself is the only problem, you might decide to do nothing until things get worse. Otherwise, just get it in for a replacement of that little pin.
