In my area, the 9-3 is about the same price, maybe $1000 more, but
havent noticed.Remeber that only turbos are sold in the US, that might
be the price hike you see. 
Saab changed a lot of stuff in the 9-3. like over a 1000 items. 
the top of the line Viggen coming out soon will be the best "next
generation" saab ever made with like 230 HP!
