If you've been using synthetic oil, please ignore the rest of this message; if not then read on. This issue may start a semi-religious battle here!!. Anyway, Mobile 1 is a fine synthetic oil. Your car is ten years old with 118K miles on it. If you have never used synthetic oil before, you may start noticing oil leaks after changing to synthetics. Natural oil tends to block those small gaps that develop in well used engines, synthetics are too fine for that. Also, the 88 engines may not have been designed with synthetics in mined (engine seals have changed in material composition), and it's also advisable that you start with synthetics early in the life of an engine (say within the first 30K or so). Now, in the future, if you do major rebuilding of the engine then this may be a good idea after you consult with the SAAB people. I'm sure you'll get anecdotal stories about switching to synthetics with 2 million miles already on the car with no problems, but I've heard and seen too many leaking engine cases.
