Debra, If you are going to get a 9000, turbo or not, you are better off with a 5 spd. The automatics on the earlier 9000S do not have good reputation. I suspect part of that comes from improper preventative maintenance by owners. From the postings in the this group and on the www.saabnet.com Bulletin Board, there are a large number of owners that just don't change the ATF and filter every 24,000 miles. You have a mechanic. That is fine, as long as he know Saabs. If not, take any Saab you are looking at seriously to a good independent Saab tech for a pre-buy inspection. Once the checks out and you decide you want it, go for it. I bought my 87 9000S 5spd in December 1997, with 145,890. I now have 164,300. Just be prepared to spend some money the first year to get the car right. Ken Washington 87 9000S 87 900S 83 900T Upper Marlboro, MD
