Subject: Re: Best Type Oil To Use

Since 1985, I have been using Castrol GTX in my engines and 5 spds. I started using it in my 83 900T 5spd. The oil and filter were changed every 3000 to 3500 miles the transmission oil, 10W30, was drained and replaced every 20,000 to 25,000 miles. My 83 900T had over 251,000 original miles on the 5 spd. The engine was changed out at 197,234 after I unwisely tried Slick 50. The used replacement engine had 95,000 miles. I also began using Militec-1 in my engine and 5 spd. The day my 900T went to salvage after being totalled it still ran like new. That was followed by an 87 900S 16V 5 spd bought in Sept 1995. It was totalled in December 97'. My 87 9000S was bought with 145,890 miles and has just under 165,000 miles now. It runs like a top. Castrol 10W40 in the engine and 10W30 in the 5 spd. Ken Washington 87 9000S 87 900S 83 900T
