The speakers are just standard-size 6 1/2". They have a plastic spacer ring and foam on them to ensure a good speaker-to-door-frame and speaker-to-door-panel seal. This seal is extremely important for bass reproduction. The amp (and speakers for that matter) they use is made for them by Clarion if you need a name brand. You could use any brand you want, you just have to find a place to mount it. What I don't know is whether the crossover used for those speakers is built into the amp or into the head unit. Go listen to lots of speakers and see what you like best. Just remember that they ALWAYS sound better in the sound boards than they will in your car. --Eoin On 14 Mar 1999 09:32:45 PST, "Terragni" <Terragninopsamentric.net> wrote: >does anyone know of a name brand speaker and amp that can be used instead of >the overpriced saab kit? i was hoping to find a less expensive alternative >to the 500 dollar kit from saab. > > >
