Saab has been putting great safety features in their cars because they thought they should LONG before GM (like most American auto manufactures) was forced to be federal regulations. And even then companies like GM are always dragged towards those kicking and screaming claiming it will ruin them or it is too expensive. : Performance -- low-pressure and assymetrical turbocharging; more power, : better fuel economy and fewer pollutants than competitors V6s. Again, Saab was one of the original car manufactures who pioneered Turbo chargin in cars long before any of the US manufactures even started thinking about it. How many Turbo charged cars did GM have on the market around 1979 or so? Same with pollutants. Saab has always been concerned with what their cars put out as they find such things important as a matter of quality of life in Sweden. Again the US companies have to be dragged towards better fuel economy and lower pollution. : Versatility -- 9-3 has biggest trunk of any car sold in the U.S.; new wagon : is loaded with innovations -- sliding cargo floor that holds nearly 500lbs : when fully extended, load securing cargo tracks strong enough to support the : weight of the entire car, etc... The list goes on and on... And again, Saab has always had very large cargo areas long before GM got in the picture. My 84 900 hatch bag could fit a full size fridge in the back and not stick out past the bumper. I doubt even a GM station wagon could claim that. Again, this is Saabs input not GM. : So yes, Saab continues to be innovative... Despite GMs influence. <grin> -- Patrick Timlin http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/4742/ ptimlinnopsamities.com
