I can't imagine this is true. If the compression ratio is > 9:1 the car will benefit from premium gas; if it's 9.5:1 or more then premium gas IS required. Premium gas will NOT harm any car; don't believe the dealer. 83 Octane is really low, 87 is minimum in my opinion.
