You'll really enjoy this car, especially in winter snow!!. Since you got this car new, if you keep up with maintenance you'll have this car for a long long time. SAABs are far more durable than the planned obsolescence of Japanese cars and shoddy build of American cars. But, like ALL European cars, they require more attention to maintenance. The following are some service items that you can do yourself for minimum cost, you don't need the dealer for this: 1) Change oil and filter every 3,000 mile or three months, whichever is shorter; good oil (Valvoline) and a SAAB (MAAN) filter (no FRAM here, please) 2) Change Radiator fluid and brake oil (DOT 4) every two years (easy with your son's help!) Now, for this one you'll need the dealer for it (not Jiffy lube): Change transmission oil every two years regardless of mileage. This is the most critical service item if you plan to keep the car for long.
