Status does not come from the *owners* of BMW's, it comes from people who must envy them (otherwise it would not be seen as a status symbol, would it?) I happen to own a 3 series, which cost the same price as our old Toyota 4-Runner V6 (Which was NOT a soccer-mum car!) Anyway... both are prolly great cars (I've never driven a Saab). But I'm not gonna tell you which one is best, because I am not you - I am most likely a VERY different driver to you, and like other qualities than you. People often crosspost between two news groups, and expect to get an answer... since when does that ever work? There are people from both camps who will not *ever* consider another model. It's not that either of the cars are *better* , just different - like a phillips and a flat screwdriver - they both do the same job. Why not just go and drive the cars and form your own opinions. That's how most people do it.
