Put the joint down, m'kay? You *couldn't* have regularly whooped 328's of the same vintage ('91) because THERE WERE NO 328s in '91. You could be blowing off 316s or Ford Mondeos or Fiat Puntos for all we know. You're obviously not paying attention to proper identification. But you're right, there is a good amount of space available in the back of a 900. FWD packaging efficiencies are apparent here.. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ). SAAB's accomplishments in the world of international motorsports is modest. They have no European Touring Car championships, no FIA GT championships, no wins at Le Mans or Daytona or Sebring. BMWs have proven themselves for years in these production based racing venues. (Okay.. SAAB may has 1 or 2 Touring Car wins.. BMW has what, like 20?) >so dont tell me that RWD is the only way! that SAAB beat 100's of other >cars for FIRST OVERALL in the rally, and SAAB has won many rallys, >including the RAC i Great Britain and the Swedish rally. RWD is good for >SUPER racing, but for overall street performance , I'll take my SAAB any >day. I just cant wait until SAAB make an AWD car. so when your BMW >slides off the road, you'll wish you had FWD, or AWD! Nope, RWD is not the only way. There is also AWD. Mark, check out these simple concepts. Torque steer/power understeer Weight transfer Weight distribution Friction circle Exit speed Read about them. And you'll understand why not many people regard FWD as a sporting platform, especially as speed and power increases. How come there has never been a FWD Ferrari or Porsche? Which axle provides the twist in a Vette? A Viper? A Mercedes CLK-GTR? I'll give credit to SAABs in the mushy gray stuff, but this is a common misconception what FWD is always superior to any RWD when the weather turns bad. While this may have been true in the days before ABS and traction/stability control, it is most certainly not the case anymore. Modern BMWs do just fine in the white stuff, thanks. They may not be as fleet as say, a Subaru Imprezza WRX in 2 feet of snow, but they aren't parked for the reminder of the winter, either (unless their owners are protecting them from road salt). BTW, Subarus rule AWD and Hondas rule FWD anyway. >Mark >91 SPG 900 turbo >66 96 Monte Carlo 850cc 3 cyl Mike Chiang 95 BMW ///M3
