And what about those types that spend even more for a Saab 900 Convertible - they want a first child for that puppy don't they? Pot calling the kettle black to complain about people buying expensive cars when you drive a Saab - hardly an econobox. Some people bite the bullet and pay more than they want to for a BMW because there is no other sports sedan choice. How many other RWD, great handling sedans are there, and that come with a manual transmission? Of course its not just basic transportation, but your assumptions (never assume, it makes an ass out of u and me) says much more about your personality than that of an average BMW driver. For that matter, your audience here is probably not an average BMW driver. An average driver of any car make just buys a car they like, and doesn't spend all their spare time monitoring newsgroups about it - they may pick up a Consumer's Reports, but probably not a Road & Track. But I digress. Point is, your posts say much more about the way your head is screwed on than those of anyone else's. > > don't dismiss the sexual partner concept as silly until you really think > about it. i'll bet that practically every item you choose to surround > yourself with, and to represent yourself to others -- whether car, clothes, > home, furniture, hobbies, etc. -- makes a consistent pattern of statements Gee, I don't own a suit that fits, autocross, have a modest home that is well within my means, play a little hockey, and love a good beer, irish whiskey, and rye. I spend a lot of time with family (married 8 years), and am owned by my daughter and Labrador Retriever. Oh, and I have a track record of keeping a sedan that handles well and a 2 seater of the same characteristics, improving each as I can afford or choose, with the odd motorcycle thrown in the mix from time to time. So Sigmund Fraud, what do you make of that? > about you and your character. and whether you have a mate already or not, > these statements are going to attract a certain type of partner, and not > attract others. this is usually not a conscious process. but you choose the > things you like, and you generally want a mate who likes most of the same > things you do. if you examine your own choices, and those of your buddies, > you'll probably see the truth in this. > > and what about the guy who buys a simple '88 cavalier because he doesn't > want his car to be a "statement?" well that's a statement in itself. > unfortunately, he's got to live with the type of woman he's going to > attract... > > stuart -- Thanks.
