Subject: SAAB Battery or 3rd Party?

I think I've trashed my 1996 SAAB 900's battery. It won't take a charge, perhaps because I left it sitting for a couple of months without starting it. Yes I know, I'm an idiot. Anyway, should I just go to the dealer and get a genuine saab battery or would I be better off getting a 3rd party batter (any recommendations?). The battery that came with the car says "Made by Varta Sweden". Is "Varta Sweden" a good battery company? Or would I be better off with a good U.S. brand such as Interstate, Optima, or Delco? Would Using a U.S. battery violate my swedish car's waranty???? Thanks!
