Wow. Thanks for the answers -- complete with the most idiot-proof diagram I have ever seen. All within a few hours. Saved me probably $50 in labor at the shop, since I am a DIYer. This occurrence is a strange coincidence, after 15 years and it pops up when I change the non-wired plastic lens assembly. With luck, the fix will solve the back-up light malfunction problem, too.
