Subject: SKWEEEEEK! Help with noisy brakes
Please help before my wife's brother drives me mad with the (front)
brakes on his '87 900 Turbo.
They squeal (a lot) whenever the pads have warmed up. It gets so that
he trys not to brake at all in built up areas because of the strange
looks he keeps getting.
We've tried the following:
Cleaning up disks and calipers with brake cleaner.
Chamfering the leading edges of his pads
Using copper grease on the pad backs and calipers
Trying Bendix anti squeal on the pads
Cutting a slot down the centre of the pads
The pads are of unknown make (maybe Saab parts, maybe not) and not
worn. Are certain makes of pad better or worse in this respect?
Any ideas?
