Klaus, I watched mine get changed. The tech loosened and removed the securing nut. He had me turn on the car to activate the antenna. The old mast and tail came out. He fed the new tail and mast in, had me turn off the car (the on/off switch on my Clarion is bad, so I use the ignition key). The new tail fed in. He secured the nut and had me cycle the antenna and it was done.
