how does the saab 9-3SE sense darkness and know when my headlights and indicator lamps should go on? actually, i know "how", what i want to figure out is, is my instrument panel lamp always on or does it go on when the car senses darkness the same way it turns the headlights on in darkness? i've driven in from a sunny day into my relatively darker garage and noticed the instrumental panel appears to have been lighted the whole time. did it just come on automatically when i drove into a darker area or is it always on? i'm also confused because, at night, even with my headlight switch to the off position, all my car lights seem to be on. i've driven out of the garage many times without even turning my headlight switch to the on position since they already appear tobe on. what's the difference of having the headlight switch only in the off (daytime running lights) position at night and all the way to right/on position at night? the saab manual is vague on this point. thanks
