I'm seriously into cars and driving and for the record have a Carlsson 900 16v. With regards to reliability mine has covered 234K (regular dealer servicing) and still handles and goes superbly. Handling is good, different to an M3 but an equally enjoyable and rewarding experience. firm control and good basic driving technique is advised - torque steer on roundabouts is entertaining ( if you can drive rather than simply touring round in flash hardware). Abbott Racing offer performance upgrades to increase everything! and the build quality is certainly up to BMW standards with I would argue better engineering design (BMW's quality has actually dropped over the years) and their driver's image is marketing lead; although their rear drive format is commendably purist but impractical for ice and snow. If you want to be ruthless the current M3 is not a patch on the original as a drivers car despite the increase in BHP etc. and use of six engine rather than race strain Four cyl. Given your budget I'd certainly recommend Saabs; although I'd consider Abbot Racing Motorsport Upgrades. I dearly love my Carlsson, although I would describe the overall experience as seductively brutish
