Subject: 88 SAAB 9000 TURBO INOP BLOWER MOTOR

1988 SAAB 9000 TURBO U.S. MODEL TRIM CODE: 2.0 SLM 5 JSA 2.0 V5 FTC4 I just replaced the fan/blower motor on this vehicle because the original motor was noisy and intermittently inoperative (the bearing/bushing at one end of the motor's shaft had worn away) After reassembly, the new blower motor would not work. I disconnected motor and checked for power at connector- 13.5V- engine running. I connected my DVOM (digital volt/ohmmeter) at the connector pins, 9.5V (changing blower speed at control panel did not seem to change voltage reading) I ran jumper wires from the battery to the blower motor and it worked perfectly. I reconnected the blower motor connectors and ran the self-diagnostic at the Climate Control panel. The display flashed 88 several times while the unit cycled the mode doors...then it displayed - 1 I pressed VENT to scroll codes- AU was displayed Anyone have ideas? Eric Eleazar
