Subject: Re: Please define quirky for me

Hi, I am one of the guilty persons to use the word "quirky". The official definition is "peculiarity of action or behavior", but in reference to this particular subject I would also add " peculiarity of design" as probably more relevent. In reply to the other question: No the two cars are totaly different. The 9-3 is based on the General Motors Vauxhall/Opel Calibra floorpan and in my opinion and many motoring magazines in the UK, this is its weakest point. Although it is a well made car, no way can anyone claim that it handles and rides as well as a 3 series BMW The 9-5 however is all SAAB, and again in my opinion is far superior. I understand that the 9-3 is called "Viggen" in America, if this is so then the 9-5 should be called "Grippen". The difference is that much! The consumer magazine "Which", here in UK only rates SAAB reliability as average, but nearly all makes of car these days are very reliable, so I don't think you need worry about breaking down every five minutes.
