Indeed it is the insurance that kills you. That is the only reason why I, as a student don't drive a Turbo yet. I am 24 years old and in Belgium one has to pay extra untill his 30th year because you are supposed to be a more risky driver. I pay for my 900 i 20.000 BEF insurance (no Omnium, no theft, no vandalism, just the most simple insurance) = 530 $ and the same amount for tax reasons. That is a fat 1000 $ and I haven't driven a single mile. Each year without an car accident (if it is your fault) you drop one level (I think you start at level 14). If you have a car accident you raise at least four (so e.g. you ran into a guy and his bumper is broke and it has to be replaced you raise four). How disgusting insurance companies work in Belgium. They earn billions a year and yet don't do a thing for their customers. Too bad. I had a discussion with my insurance agent and told her that in the Scandinavian countries people even get an insurance reduction because they drive a Saab. In Belgium they think : he drives a Saab, he has more than enough money so why don't we take an extra lot of it. Let's hope the European Community makes it better, we are allready for 30 years with that agent but I warned her that the minute I find a cheaper insurance she would lost me permanently as a customer.
