Subject: Re: HELP ME!!NO OIL PRESSURE!!!

Hi, I just had a look at my workshop manual, and its instructions are to prime the oil pump with _oil_ before inserting it. Oil should suffice for keeping air from doing its little tricks. Is it possible that Vaseline is too viscous, not letting the oil get pumped through - in which case you could clean it out and stick oil in. Another tip mentioned in the book is to draw out the oil pump drive ("pumpdrevet") from the engine side, just a small amount, so as to be able to engage the corresponding sprocket in the oil pump. On the page following, the instruction is "Demontera oljefiltrets adapterhus och fyll kanalen till oljepumpens trycksida med motorolja", which says that you should remove the oil filter's mounting plate from the block and fill the pressure side channel [the most aft of the two holes of course] with oil. Not sure though if that is a deciding factor for you to get oil pressure or not, but may be worth a go, together with priming by using ordinary oil in the pump itself, as mentioned earlier. What else can we try - is the oil pressure sensor - above the filter (or the wire connecting it) possibly broken, so you get a red light? (unlikely problem since you do seem to be checking for actual oil flow - you quite rightly check the filter . . .). Now I'm out of ideas. Let's hope someone can post some better ideas than these. Tell us how it turns out.
