It's probably not worth the trouble to convert. You'd need a new compressor wheel and housing to accomodate the increased flow rate of the 16V. And, after changing those parts, you should really get it balanced, which is fairly expensive. On the other hand, if you'd be willing to tolerate somewhat reduced performance, you can just bolt it on and it will work.
