i used auto-by-tell, carpoint, and autovantage to get quotes from dealers in the SF area (each service appears to exclusively sign up a dealer in a metro area). the quotes were invoice + $300, invoice + $500, and invoice + $800. i then used the invoice + $300 quote (actually from auto-by-tel) as a basis in conversations with all the other dealers in the area, e.g. "i've got a quote from dealer x for a 9-3 with such and such options at $300 over invoice. can you beat this price?" i ended up finding two dealers who were willing to sell me a car at or below invoice. one even said he'd sell me any saab on his lot at invoice. bottom line: consider internet pricing services, along with invoice info, phone, fax, etc., as one of many weapons in your arsenal to get the best price. i think the dealers hate it that people use their "special internet prices" as the basis for negotiation with other dealers, but that's their problem. we're the ones shelling out the big $$$. -**** Posted from RemarQ, http://www.remarq.com/?a ****- Search and Read Usenet Discussions in your Browser - FREE -
