Subject: "Brake Fluid" Light & bucking/stalling problem

Two days ago,I had some brakework performed on my '86 Saab 900. (Front pads and a sticking parking brake rebuilt.) The car drove fine yesterday, but today my daugter was driving it and had the following experience: She said that "Brake Fluid " light had flickered on while driving around town. Then, at about 50-55 mph, all of sudden the "Brake Fluid" light came on steady and the car felt like it was missing badly and started bucking. She slowed down to 40 and the car ran smoothly for a little while, but it got increasingly worse in the 5 miles she drove it home. Finally, it completely died on her about a block away from home. I checked out the car, brake fluid normal, no signs of leaking. Everything seemed OK. I started it up an the Brake Fluid light was indeed lit. Drove it down the block, applied the brakes a few times and the light went out. No sign of problems. The only difference in the car I could tell was a louder than normal humming coming from what I assume is the fuel pump in the rear of the car. My Saab mechanic is 30 miles away. I would appreciate any advice any of you might have regarding this problem. Anything in particular I should check or test? I hate the thought of driviing 30 miles and having this problem resurface along the way, nor do I want to damage the car should the problem arise again.
