Nick, Sounds like what you're talking about is the computer that runs the fuel-injection system. If you pull the carpet back from the wheel-well area on the passenger's side of the car, you'll find it. In my experience, these computers very rarely fail. This, and the fact that the guy told you it was "either under the seat or in the engine compartment" says to me that the person who did the diagnostic doesn't know too much about Saabs. Plus, "it must be the computer" is kind of a mechanic's code-word for "it's something electrical that I don't understand so please go away". I would try to get another opinion, or get a good service manual (Bentley or factory) and go at it yourself. If you do end up needing the computer, it should be readily available from a junkyard. I'd find yours and record the part number off it, the junkyards often need that information. Good luck!
