Jared, It seems you're one of the few to discover the value that the base 9-3 can offer. For just over $800 more than a Toyota Camry XLE V6, you can get a very similarly equipped car with infinitely more character. You're right to be concerned about Saab reliability. Saab has been working very hard since the mid 90's to improve reliability. Take a look at the reliability survey conducted by a UK leasing company. http://www.lvl.co.uk/about_us/reliability_survey.html Specifically, what they say on page 7: "The excellent quality and reliability of newer Saab models is reflected in a near halving of the MBPHV figure compared to last year and we expect such considerable improvement to continue as this report covers a rolling five year period. The more common problems now tend to be less serious or expensive to correct and also account for a much lower proportion of the total number of failures." This was for the 900, back in 1998. The 9-3, with its hydraulic clutch and other improvements, should improve even further. Other points: Saabs are some of the least stolen cars in the US. (BMW's are, literally, over 10 times likely to get stolen.) They also provide the lowest rate of death and injury in real-life accidents. I chose a 9-3 SE HOT in March over the Audi A4 Quattro and BMW 328i. My only possible regret may be not waiting for the Audi S4 Quattro, but even then, I'm not sure. The S4 is going to be a tiny car with no cargo space compared to the hatch on the Saab. -- Andrew Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
