Power steering fluid and ATF have different specs they must meet. Some cars recpmmend the use of ATF in power steering, others specify power steering fluid. Still others specify a specific fluid (BMW with Hydroboost is an example). The only ATF I know of which exceeds the power steering specs (Sundstrand pump test is one) is AMSOIL synthetic ATF.
