I built my own sub for my 1988 900i, I used a kicker Impules 8inch and made a box for it out of MDF, sealed it inside with silicon sealent and carpeted it. The box is about a foot by a foot and it sounds great hooked up to my Pro sound amp. Space was an issue this sub fitws neatly into the top left corner of my boot. The carpet even matches.
