Subject: Re: Why is it recommended that rear tyre pressures be higher than front?

1) Inflate the front tires to maximum 2) Deflate the rear tires 3) Apply parking brake 4) Depress clutch 5) Put in 1st gear 6) Rev the engine up to 6.500 rpm 7) release clutch..... ... NO, sorry but this is little funny to listen... the turning radius is nearly the same, if thereīs more pressure in the front or back. The turning radius gets wider, the faster you drive, cause the car has an understeering behaviour, until the rear "looses" the contact and the back is travelling to the outside of the corner - thatīs called oversteering and if that happens in a bigger style youīll have a lot of work to prevent a spin, especially when you are not accellerating (that means you havenīt dynamically decreased the road holding capacity on the front with the gas or even release the throttle when you are turning in). Thereīs a wide grip limit range, especially with the narrow standard wheels. When you loose the grip on the rear the car is turning (better heading) into the corner, that reduces the turning radius at a given speed. The more you inflate a tire, the earlier you loose the grip on (from an ideal pressure onward), you canīt really tell that for the opposite direction, cause a too soft pressured tire "floats" and "warps" around. to answer your question: drive very very very very slow and if you want to win some mm (garage) inflate the front tires, so they wonīt be deformed by the car weight - if you are diving normally notice above... -RCS- Filip Van Bourgognie wrote: > so what do I have to do to make the turning circle of my saab 900 turbo > smaller?
