Andre, Rotating the distributor may change your engine into a non-running one, but that's about it! 8^) Seriously, the ignition gets its timing pulse from a hall-effect sensor that's located behind the crankshaft pulley on the "front" of the engine (near the firewall). It is thoroughly non-adjustable. Actually, this leads to another question: how can you tell when the distributor is in the correct position? Maybe there are alignment marks or something...
