Jim, I don't know about the buzzing, I thought the 2.3L engines use an actual chain and not a belt which is virtually indestructable. As far as the boot gauge is concerned if it is not going into the red on full throttle you are not experiencing the awsome performance this car is capable of (I am assuming a 5 speed, the autos were detuned to CSE specifications). Try replacing the APC control valve (the little widget with the three vacum lines going to the turbo). I have seen several postings that these are sometimes problematic.
