Subject: Re: Advice Needed ... Buying First Saab

"Salvage" rings a potentially disquieting alarm bell. You might want to backtrack the vehicle's pedigree to make sure that it wasn't in fact totalled by an insurance company. I may be wrong, but it's my understanding that in such cases you may find the car difficult to register, if not to insure, without incurring substantial additional expense. I suspect that this depends on the state, however. The seller's representations notwithstanding, you also shouldn't buy the car without tracking down a good mechanic to render an impartial judgment about its overall condition. Another caveat: keeping your Saab in good running condition is not inexpensive. Surely cheaper than a car payment, but expect to invest a good chunk of money in your car to keep it up to snuff. And the more "loaded" your Saab is, the more things can go wrong. Some of the options are very costly to repair or replace. That said, if it's a sound automobile, you can expect to have it for many years if properly cared for, so your overall cost of ownership will be OK. Good luck. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!
